What is a masters of business administration?

The Master in Business Administration, is a positive response to the need for superior training in the business world competitor. This specialty renews existing training models, in this space by improving with the technological profile.

To this must be added the competitive advantage, represented by having the option to choose between four specialties of high demand. That’s why currently the MBA (acronym in English), is one of the specialties that are most sought after for the contribution they give.

The Master in Business Administration (MBA), is an internationally recognized degree, being designed to improve, transform and develop the skills required for careers in business and management. The value of the MBA, however, is not strictly defined to the world of business. An Master of  Business Administration, can also be advantageous for those who persevere in a management career in the public sector, government, private industry and other areas.

Most MBA programs include a “core” curriculum of subjects such as accounting, economics, marketing and operations, as well as elective courses that allow participants to pursue their own personal or professional interests. Some schools require MBA candidates to complete an internship in a company or organization, which can lead to concrete job opportunities after the program.

Quality business schools, generally require candidates to have at least a few years of professional experience before beginning an MBA program. Applicants are, also required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examinations (GRE), academic transcripts, letters of reference, and an essay or statement of purpose that reflects why they want to obtain an MBA.

Non-native English speakers, generally have to demonstrate adequate English skills with TOEFL or IELTS scores, or with previous academic experience.

The MBA, is currently the most popular professional degree program in the world. Today there are more than 2,500 MBA programs offered around the world; Most are offered in English. Presented for the first time in the universities of the United States, at the beginning of the 20th century, MBA programs have evolved to keep up with the demands of the times.

While traditional two-year MBA programs are still common, especially in the United States, one-year programs have become increasingly popular. Part-time and online programs, are also widely available for professionals who do not wish to or can not take a year or two to complete a full-time program. Executive MBA programs (EMBA), are part-time programs aimed at professionals with more years of managerial experience than traditional MBA candidates.
